You can use this page to compute the inbreeding coefficient for your mare and any of the active
FPS Approved stallions. We have already included the pedigree information on all the stallions
past and present so that all that you need to do is provide a portion of your mare's pedigree.
The boxes below are used to enter information about your mare name and registration number, then
the same information on the mare's sire and dam, then the sire and dam of the mare's dam, and so on.
You are basically entering the information on the bottom horses of the pedigree as printed on your
mare's papers. If you are confused by this explanation, you can view a sample pedigree chart
here. In this sample, the boxes are colored red (sires),
blue (dams), and green (your mare). These colors match the colors of the boxes below and are the required
information. The information in uncolored boxes should already be present in our stallion database.
You should have to enter no more than nine horses to complete your mare's pedigree.
When you enter information in the boxes below, you should enter the registration number first.
If the computer recognizes that registration number, the name and any known ancestors of that
horse will be filled into the boxes automatically as soon as you move the cursor to the next
box. Also, note that we are asking for a nine-digit registration number, not the newer fifteen
digit numbers. (The nine-digit number is simply the rightmost nine digits of the fifteen digit
number.)
If, when you enter a stallion's registration number, you get "Missing Horse" instead of the stallion's
name, then we don't have the stallion in our database. We can add him if you fax or mail us a
copy of your mare's papers. Our contact information is
here.
A final note, try to enter the data as carefully as possible since we will be recording that
information in our database so that you (and possibly others) won't have to enter it if you
use this service again.
If you make a mistake, correct it before clicking on the "Compute" button.
If you make an error but fail to catch it before clicking on compute, let us know and we can
fix it in the database.
